MHS Student Council held its annual shopping night for underprivileged families in Morrison. This is a favorite activity and tonight we shopped for 25 kids in the community. Our members raise funds to be able to do this by working concessions throughout volleyball and basketball seasons and doing a large project for Custom Pak. Helping to make the holidays brighter for many families is a project our kids take great pride in!

As a reminder all home girls high school basketball games will be played by the Varsity at 5:30 pm and the JV game to follow. Most of the teams on our schedule have also agreed to that format for the away games. I will post prior to any away games that the Varsity will play second.

Congratulations to Morrison High School’s Varsity Scholastic Bowl team on its first-place finish in the Riverdale Early Season Tournament on Saturday, Nov. 18 at Riverdale High School! This year’s first-place finish improves upon Morrison’s third-place finish at the tournament last year. Morrison won six of its seven matches on Nov. 18, defeating Annawan, Geneseo, LaSalle-Peru, United Township, Moline, and Riverdale, and losing one match to Ashton-Franklin Center. Morrison pulled off a tremendous upset in the championship round against Riverdale. Morrison, trailing Riverdale by a score of 230-100 at halftime after 10 questions, managed to catch up to Riverdale by the end of the 17th question. Morrison continued scoring on questions 18, 19 and 20, and ultimately won the match by a score of 340-300 to secure the first-place finish. Morrison’s team consisted of Violet Mills, Gen Vegter, Nara Hardesty, Quinn Blevins, and Blaine Williams.
