Second graders at Northside used an egg candler to see the difference between chicken eggs that are not developing and eggs that contain a live chick embryo. They were excited to see a tiny chick actively moving and were able to detect the dark black spot on the head where the eye is located, even through the shell. Afterward the recorded their observations in their embryology journal. They are eagerly awaiting Day 21 when the eggs will hatch, around May 12th.
Yesterday MHS held its first Day Without Hate in three years. MHS B.L.I.N.D. leaders greeted students as they walked into school, giving out bracelets, candy, smiles, and positivity. Students also participated in kindness challenges during the passing periods, like saying hello to people they don't usually talk to, and giving out compliments to others. We are glad to have this tradition back at MHS, and are looking forward to next year's Day Without Hate.
