The high school softball and baseball games are cancelled for today. We are working on a make-up date. The conference has a rule for game day temps. If the real feel temp for 5:00 pm is below 40 teams are not to play games. Currently that temp is listed as 31 and back into the 20's for 7:00 pm.

Last week, our 6th grade class won the building wide “class cup” for weekly good behavior. This week they’ve been treated to some different rewards during homeroom for winning. Yesterday was a popcorn party. After they filled up on popcorn they were allowed to have a popcorn food fight with the remainder of it for 45 seconds. Here is the aftermath.

As part of our 6th grade ELA curriculum, our students have been reading and learning about schools in Africa. On March 25th, the 6th grade class sponsored a bring a friend dance to raise money for not only the school they’ve been in contact with, but also our local Rotary. Several of our 6th grade students were able to attend the Rotary meeting today and presented them with a check for $825. Another $825 will be sent to the school in Africa. Way to go 6th grade!

U.S. Navy Petty Officer Luis Ortiz visited Morrison High School’s Law Survey and American Government classes on Thursday, April 7 to discuss the role of Judge Advocate Generals (JAGs) in the U.S. Navy, and to provide an overview of a sailor’s day-to-day experiences aboard a naval ship. Petty Officer Ortiz discussed the career-related benefits to service in the U.S. Navy, including job training in a wide range of careers and a path to post-service employment. He also fielded questions from students on a number of topics, including the advantages and drawbacks of naval service; the length of a typical deployment; encounters with hostile actors on the high seas; cell phone policies aboard ships; and dating in the U.S. Navy.

Tonight's baseball and softball games scheduled to be played at Riverdale have been moved to TBK field (Bett Plex) tonight. The F/S baseball game scheduled in Morrison has been also moved to the Bett Plex. The game time is set for 4:00 pm. That a earlier start than normal but we can only rent the field until 6:30 pm. Currently softball will play a varsity followed by F/S double header or as many innings as possible starting at 4:00 . Varsity baseball and F/S baseball will play at 4:00 on separate fields. Sorry about the late notice but we did not get verification until around 1:00 pm that we could play there.

During the entire month of March, Northside students listened to books and voted on their favorite in a “March Book Madness” tournament! The book “Norman Didn’t Do It (yes, He did!)” by Ryan T. Higgins was the schoolwide winner! It was a lot of fun!
